This book had me cringing from pretty early on. When Elliot meets Gemma and falls madly in love with her he ignores the fact that he doesn’t know her very well. Their whirlwind romance quickly evolves into a speedy marriage. Shortly after they are married her family contacts her needing a place to stay as they are moving back to London after living in Paris. The initial agreement is for them to stay for a couple of weeks while they look for a new house. Elliot quickly realizes that they have very different plans.
At first the Robinson family seems a little strange but are nice enough. The family consists of Jeff and Lizzy who are Gemma’s parents and Chloe who is her younger sister. Chloe seems to be very ill when they arrive and they keep her hidden in a spare room which Elliot finds very strange. Soon they start leaving messes around the house, putting off finding a new home, asking to borrow money and behave very aggressively towards Elliott. No matter how much he insists they move out immediately, his requests are ignored and there is no end to their stay in sight.

Elliot starts questioning the Robinson’s on why they left France so suddenly and he starts to look into the family’s past. Unfortunately this is a dangerous move on Elliot’s part. His neighbors and close friend are both found dead in their homes and he suspects Gemma’s father Jeff of being the culprit. The lengths that Elliott goes to takes him down a path he won’t be able to come back from. The ending to this book is not what I was expecting and the real truth behind the Robinson family is one that will give you chills! I would definitely recommend this book if you love a good mystery and suspenseful book.
