What can I say about Betty Lou Beets? Nothing good. She was married five times starting at the age of fifteen and went on to murder her fourth husband in 1980 and her fifth husband in 1983. She killed them both with a gun while they were sleeping and showed zero remorse for her actions.
For the murder of husband #4, Doyle Wayne Barker, she had her daughter assist in burying the body in the backyard and then she put a storage shed over his body. When she decided to get rid of husband #5, Jimmy Don Beets, her son helped her dispose of the body in a wishing well also in her backyard.

When the police confronted her with the very clear evidence that proved she was responsible she immediately put the blame of both murders on her son and tried to stick to that story all during her trial. Who would involve their children in covering up their horrendous crime and then blame them for it? What she did goes against a mother’s instincts to protect her children.
After she was found guilty of both murders she was sentenced to death and then executed on February 24, 2000. She was the second woman since the Civil War to die of capital punishment in Texas. I feel terrible for the families of these victims and I hope they found some sort of closure after her demise.
There is A LOT more behind this story and I encourage you to read for yourself and let me know what you think!
