Greta Marchmont cannot remember anything for twenty years after she is involved in a tragic accident. During a visit to Marchmont Hall where she spent most of her young life she starts to recall past events and regain pieces of her memory. When she is younger she falls in love with an American soldier while working as a show girl and ends up pregnant. The soldier finds out about her occupation and decides to leave for America before he knows she’s pregnant which leaves her to fend for herself. Her friend David invites her to stay and live at his family’s estate called Marchmont Hall. She gives birth to twins and sadly loses her son when he is a few years old. Her daughter is eventually noticed by someone in the entertainment industry and Francesca (aka Cheska) is launched into the world of acting at a young age.

Throughout the years Cheska becomes a famous child star and remains so throughout her teens and into adulthood. But there is a very dark and dangerous side to Cheska that her mother doesn’t notice. Having been given everything she wants due to her fame and popularity she will stop at nothing to get her way in every situation. The story that spans through the lives of Greta, Cheska and then granddaughter/daughter Ava is one about love, family and overcoming loss and madness.
